Tokyo Photo is an International art fair specializing in photography, featuring leading galleries from Tokyo, New York, San Francisco, London and Amsterdam.
In 2011 hayakawa kowalczyk has been asked to design 3rd edition of the show located in Tokyo Midtown Hall. The task for the architect was to come up with proposal for the new layout as well as ideas for the entrance and special areas such as exhibition by Simon Baker, curator of photography and international art at Tate Modern in London and Charity Exhibition and art sale organized by the Embassy of France.
Entrance sequence apart from the new built reception desk has been also designed to accommodate one of the Tokyo Photo Projects, ATOKATA by Kishin Shinoyama.
The design of the gallery rooms in the Main Hall has involved collaborations with most of the art galleries and some of the artist resulting in their own distinctive character of each spaces.
