hayakawa kowalczyk is a Tokyo-based architecture studio founded by Emiko Hayakawa and Aureliusz Kowalczyk.
The work of practice ranges from private houses and apartment buildings through to arts, commercial buildings and interiors.
Our objective is to create meaningful spaces that respond to their intended use and character.

Emiko Hayakawa studied architecture at the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam where she obtained Master of Excellence in Architecture. She worked for David Adjaye in London from 2003 — 2006 and Kumiko Inui in Tokyo in 2007 before establishing her own practice with Aureliusz Kowalczyk. Emiko is a first class licensed architect.
Aureliusz Kowalczyk studied architecture at Technical University in Warsaw and Berlage Institute in Rotterdam. He worked for Tony Fretton and Caruso St John Architects amongst others prior to establishing his own practice with Emiko Hayakawa in 2009.
He was a visiting critic at the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule in Zürich (ETH) and at the University of North London from 2005 — 2007.
